About

Hi!  My name is Kristen.  I have been practicing as a registered nurse in Austin since graduating from The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2008.  I also have a Master of Science in Nursing degree from UT Austin, where I focused on maternity education.  My clinical nursing experience includes work in hospitals (labor & delivery, newborn, and postpartum), OB/GYN offices, and birth centers.  I began teaching childbirth classes in the fall of 2012, working for an experienced Lamaze educator in the community.

I decided to start Swaddled Prepared Childbirth in the spring of 2014 (after my mentor retired and closed her business) because teaching childbirth classes is the only job I’ve ever had doesn’t feel like “work”.  I am very passionate about educating women and their families about what to expect before, during, and after the delivery of their precious new baby.

Knowledge is power– corny, I know, but true!  By attending a childbirth class, you are setting yourself up for success because you will receive the information you need to feel empowered to make educated decisions throughout your labor and delivery experience.  While some things are out of our control, knowing what to typically expect can go a long way to help you have a positive experience.  Because I have worked in the hospital setting, I have firsthand knowledge about what is truth and what is myth.  I don’t work for a company or facility; I work for you!  It is truly a pleasure to share my knowledge about these topics freely and openly, focused on what is best for mom and baby.

Thanks for stopping by!

~Kristen
